Forget The Next Big Thing in AI. It’s The Next LITTLE Thing That Counts.

We call it wasteland. Too hard to bring a crop to harvest. But with Agentic AI, we can.

There’s a point where you realise. You should have realised earlier but at least you do now.

It was staring you in the face all this time.

Of course, if you ask AI a math problem it will write a little python program for you.

Of course, if you ask it to cut a video it will invoke ffmpeg.

Of course, if you ask it to build a website it will create a Nextjs project.

It’s a revelation that’s not a revelation. Everything is software.

————-

I think I know why so many companies struggle with AI. They’re not thinking like coders.

————-

Your bookkeeper uses software but has no idea how it works.

Even your sysadmin only knows which buttons to press.

They’re coding illiterates.

If your customer support knew coding they’d throw Zendesk out the door in a sec.

Don’t fire them because you’ve just bought yourself a chatbot subscription. Teach them to think like a coder.

————-

It’s the little things. It’s the boring stuff that gets forgotten. It’s what makes the world turn round.

————-

With our AI coding agents, we don’t build flash-dodaddle projects. We’re not chasing after the next big thing.

We do normal stuff. We do tickets. We follow the same patterns devs have done from the beginning of time.

We read, we assess, we code, we review, we test, we deploy.

The difference is, we use AI, so we’re ten times more productive.

Ten times more productive means we cover ten times the territory. We get into places that were hitherto unproductive wasteland.

————-

You ask a coder how to filter a column in a spreadsheet, chances are they can’t. But they can connect to data you’ve never heard of.

————-

You shouldn’t retrain your coder to become a bookkeeper. You retrain your bookkeeper to become a coder.

There’s so much wasteland between the features of the Big SaaS platform that you do your finances in.

So much opportunity.

As eighteenth century economists knew, it’s the wasteland that brings the most profit, because for wasteland you pay no rent.

Bring coders into finance. They’ll pay for themselves and then some.

————-

The wasteland was there all along. You just never saw its potential.

————-

We’re ten times as productive using Agentic AI, maybe more. Which means we can extract value from places that were once economically infeasible. Previously considered wasteland.

Everything is software and software is everywhere.

It’s a movement across history. Adam Smith knew. Thomas Hobbes knew.

First the fertile lands, first the easy wins.

The coal and ore found near the surface are the first to be turned into metals. Then comes deep shaft mining.

The next big little thing is a quiet invasion into the crooks and crannies of what we’ve overlooked.

AI in the mundane, productivity in the overlooked. Exploiting the wasteland.

The future isn’t built on hype. It’s not the next big thing. It’s built on the boring stuff, done brilliantly.

Let’s get to work.
